How it Started

Redeemer Church was established by the Engage Network in January 2014, with Jaysson and Leah Gurwell chosen to lead the church in May of the same year. A group of 9 dedicated families came together to help launch the church, which held its first public service on September 14, 2014.

The Engage Network consists of several churches across Iowa, including Saylorville Church in North Des Moines, Lakeside Fellowship in Polk City, Living Waters Fellowship in South Des Moines, High Pointe Church in Altoona, Redeemer Church in Winterset, New City Church in Ankeny, Ballard Creek Church in Huxley, and Eden Church in North Des Moines. Established by Saylorville in 2005, the network’s mission is to plant new churches while emphasizing the importance of staying true to the Gospel and actively sharing the message of Christ. This is achieved through regular meetings among pastors and occasional events involving all member churches. Saylorville Church, the founding church of the Engage Network, has been proclaiming the Glory of God in Christ for almost 150 years.
